City of San Diego’s Film & Permitting Liaison

The Film and Permitting Liaison (Program Coordinator) will be responsible for collaborating with multiple City departments and private sector entities to establish and manage a comprehensive program to support motion picture, television, commercial, and photography production taking place on City public property. This will include but is not limited to, location and permit facilitation for non-recreational, commercial filming and photography on the City of San Diego property and coordination of all-hands production meetings with City departments, other jurisdictions and agencies, and production companies to streamline the production process, troubleshoot logistics and conduct community outreach. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for establishing customer service and industry relations that will generate increased filming in the City of San Diego, including management of department’s online location and production directory, interactive GIS resources, and e-permitting portal. Regionally, the Film and Permitting Liaison will represent the City of San Diego in development of county-wide initiatives to enhance the region’s status as a film-friendly destination. The position will also support the Special Events & Filming Department, including supporting the Special Events Program Manager and assisting in event coordination, management of the department’s website and assisting staff by providing technical and logistical support of large-scale special events that have significant impact on the regional economy.

This individual must have a proven track record in building effective relationships, up, down and across organizations and will function as the knowledge expert and consultant with the ability to influence department leaders. To be successful in this role, you must have a positive, solution-oriented perspective as well as demonstrated experience leading a team and implementing projects.
