Bodies of Water

The Delta King in Old Sacramento.

Something every Sac Native loves is the many options when it comes to getting in the water.

In addition to dozens of ponds and lakes all over the region, Folsom Lake is one of the largest inland freshwater lakes in California and is surrounded by docks, restaurants, bars and places to play. But follow the lake to the Southwest corner and it feeds into the American River, which serpentines its way past Folsom Prison and through some of the region’s biggest and best parks and wetlands. Eventually it finds its way past CSU Sacramento to the confluence with the Sacramento River – the area that originally enticed Capt. John Sutter to plant roots here back in 1839. So, if you need a pond, a lake, a river or a whole delta to create your scene, we’ve got plenty here to dive into.
